Sustainable Placemaking: A Whole Greater Than the Sum of the Parts
The unprecedented challenges communities face today—from climate change to increasing inequality—call for new approaches to planning. We need interconnected solutions that integrate thinking about energy, land use, transportation, housing, green infrastructure, and economic opportunity. We need plans that bring together multifaceted investments and programs to create enduring and sustainable places—not simply projects. We practice sustainable placemaking, delivering a whole greater than the sum of the parts.
about lba
ABOUT LBA
Accomplished Leadership
LBA helps cities and communities become more livable, equitable, sustainable, and resilient through holistic planning and strategic advice. Principal Larissa Brown has prepared more than 20 comprehensive plans for communities across the U.S., as well as plans for mixed-use districts, neighborhoods, housing, open space systems, and climate change resilience. Inherently interdisciplinary, her work integrates land use and urban design with resilience and sustainability, market analysis and economic development, housing, transportation, and infrastructure. She has worked at a range of scales—region, city, and town—and in urban, suburban, and semi-rural contexts. Her plans get implemented because they’re simultaneously aspirational, practical, and based on robust community engagement and consensus-building. LBA provides a tailored team of highly qualified technical partners for each project.
